Summers was founded in 1893 as a small retail hardware store in downtown Johnson City by J.A. Summers and Ben Lyle. In 1911 we moved to our present location and entered the wholesale distribution business. In 1974 we added the Industrial Division to provide maintenance, repair, and operating supplies to area industries.

In 1936, Fitzhugh L. Wallace took over ownership. The Wallace family continued to run the company until 1991. The currect owner, Glenn Shaw, and Bob Lawson, the companies treasurer, purchased controlling interest in 1991. Glenn Shaw became the sole owner of Summers in 1999.

Today, Summers is a thriving MRO supplier with over $15 million in annual sales revenue. Summers serves a wide ranging customer base that includes manufacturers, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and commercial contractors. Our talented employees are the best in the business.
